ARBITRATIONS AND GEOPOLITICS OF FRENCH LAW...

Meeting-debate, May 24, 2023, K&L Gates, 116 avenue des Champ Élysées, Paris

The Arbitration Club co-organized the meeting-debate "Arbitration and geopolitics of 'French-style' law", hosted by Me Louis Degos at the offices of the K&L Gates firm in Paris.

Mr. Louis Degos, lawyer at the Paris bar, Managing Partner and Head of International Arbitration at K&L Gates Paris, welcomed Mr. Carine Doganis, member of the Club de l'arbitrage, lawyer at the Paris bar and Senior Advisor to the United Nations, to discuss her work Pour un droit public de l'arbitrage, published at the beginning of the year following the defense of her thesis.

During the discussion, moderated by our president Natalia Gaucher-Mbodji, the speakers compared their points of view as publicists and private practitioners working in France and internationally on the geopolitical dimension of arbitration. Carine Doganis' proposals, which establish a dialogue of rights in what is often conceived as a "reserved domain" by revisiting the law of arbitration in light of the fundamentals of public law, were also the subject of a rich discussion with the participants: jurists, lawyers, arbitrators, administrative and financial magistrates, academics, diplomats, personalities from the business world...

The Arbitration Club thanks the K&L Gates team for its welcome and its members for taking an active part in this exchange.
